We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:19-21)

Biblical Prophecies



Following are sixty prophecies on Jesus Christ from the Old Testament; all were fulfilled in the New Testament:

Born of a woman
A virgin shall conceive
Son of God
Son of Abraham
Son of Isaac
Son of Jacob
From the tribe of Juda
Out of the stem of Jesse
Son of David
Born in Bethlehem
Gifts shall be presented unto him
The massacre of all the boys two years old and under in Bethlehem and its environs
The flight into Egypt
Christ's eternal presence from before the foundation of the world and everlasting
Shall be called Lord
They shall call his name Emmanuel (God with us)
Shall be a prophet
Priest forever
Shall judge
Shall be King
The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him
The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up
A messenger shall prepare the way before him (John the Baptist)
Shall begin his public mission in Galilee
His miracles
Shall teach by parables
Shall suddenly come to his temple
His entry into Jerusalem riding upon an ass
A stumbling stone to Israel
The light of the world
A friend shall betray him (Judas Iscariot)
The service of the good shepherd shall be contemptuously valued at thirty pieces of silver, the legal indemnity (Exodus 21:32) for a gored slave
The money shall be thrown into the temple treasury, i.e., paid to God, showing thereby how shamefully his divine love and care are requited
The money shall be used to buy the potter's field
His disciples shall forsake him and flee
False witnesses shall testify against him
Though he was harshly treated, he submitted and opened not his mouth
He was wounded for our offences, crushed for our sins
They shall spit in his face and smite him
They shall mock him
They shall pierce his hands and feet
He was numbered with the transgressors
Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do
Spurned and avoided by his nation
They hated him without a cause
His lovers and friends stood afar off
People wag their heads
People look and stare upon him
They parted my garments among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots
In my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink
He cried with a loud voice, saying, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Into thy hands I commend my spirit
Not one of his bones shall be broken
His pierced side
Darkness over all the earth
With the rich in his death
His resurrection from the dead the third day
His ascension into heaven
He sat at the right hand of the Father
Destruction of Jerusalem and the temple (took place in the year 70 A.D.)
