Silences That Are Sinful

Good News
In every life there are times when to be silent is to fail in duty. We are to speak out on all occasions when the glory of Christ demands it. We should never fear to speak the word of warning to one in danger. We should never hesitate to speak boldly in confession of Christ in the presence of his enemies. To be ashamed of him ie a grievous wrong to him. Many of us sin, too, by our silence toward hearts that are hungry for love. On our tongues lie the words that would give blessing, but we hold our peace and let the sad hearts break. Many of us talk too much, no doubt--"speech is silver and silence is golden"--but let us remember also that "there is a time to speak" (Ecclesiastes 3:7)

Job 16:5: But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief. (KJV)
Psalms 19:14: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. (KJV)
Proverbs 15:23: A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! (KJV)
Proverbs 25:11: A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. (KJV)
Ecclesiastes 10:12: The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. (KJV)
Isaiah 50:4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. (KJV)
Luke 12:8-9: Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. (KJV)
1 Peter 3:15: But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (KJV)
